High School Students and Faculty To Work with 23 Community Agencies for Service Learning

More than 400 Ensworth faculty and high school students will work with 23 different community agencies and organizations during Service Learning Community Day on Friday. Projects include:
  • Work by Ensworth student artists will continue on the CSX Train overpass mural.
  • Students will spend time with children at Cole Elementary.
  • Students will work with four different non-profits to help others have a special holiday season by helping sort and prepare donated gifts. Students will work with Cottage Cove, Preston Taylor Ministries, The Salvation Army, and Youth Encouragement Services.
  • The issue of hunger and homelessness is discussed when students spend time at Feed the Children, Graceworks, and The Bridge Ministry
  • Students will work with Thriftsmart, a unique partner that uses the proceeds from their store to fund other non-profits.
  • The importance of taking care of our environment is discussed and acted upon when students work with Warner Parks and the Nashville Zoo and plant trees with the Harpeth River Watershed Association.
  • Intergenerational learning happens at Lakeshore Meadows and Windlands South retirement communities.
  • Students will help at the Martha O'Bryan Center serving residents of the Cayce Homes neighborhood in east Nashville.
  • A home in south Nashville will receive some "TLC" from students when they work with Hands On Nashville in the Home Energy Savings Project.
  • Students will experience helping cancer patients by delivering healthy, organic meals from The Heimerdinger Foundation.
  • World War II veterans will be interviewed and honored by students with a visit.
  • Several musically talented students will spend the day in one of the best recording studios in Nashville producing songs to benefit a community partner organization.
  • The Peer Support Team will work with new members to train them in counseling their peers.
  • A group of students will spend the day recording the activities, produce a slide show, and report on all that was done at the celebration assembly next week.
